A statewide Nature/Wildlife photo contest was held as a partnership between Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources and West Kentucky Corporation to celebrate the beauty of Kentucky as well as to educate on the varity of wildlife, birds and plants the state offers.

Over 900 photographs were entered into the competition and 132 photographers from across the state participated in the contest. All of the photos used in the brochure and on the website are from this photo contest.

On April 19, 2003 an award ceremony was held at the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources Salato Center in Frankfort.. Several of the photographers attended the ceremony and received certificates of appreciate as as as cash prizes. Over 120 photographs were on diaply for a period of time at the Salato Center.
  • First Place was awarded to Neil Kaufman of Louisville.
  • Second place to Allan Mills of Berea and
  • Third place was awarded to Tim Batts of Paducah.
