F1 - Green River Lake State Park

Green River Lake State Park is a recreational paradise in south central Kentucky's cave country. This 8,200-acre, picture-perfect lake provides excellent opportunities for almost any water sport. After a day on the lake, relax in the lakeshore campground, and enjoy a beach just for campers.

Habitat and trail info:
A 20-mile multi-purpose trail for hiking and mountain biking offers great outdoor fun, exercise, and an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Green River Lake.

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities:
white-tailed deer, wild turkey, rabbit, bobwhite, squirrel, song birds, Canada geese, great blue heron, bald eagle, white, largemouth, small mouth and Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, muskie and catfish.
F2 - Quarry Road WMA

Turn left on US 31E (3 miles) turn right on KY 252 (5 miles), right into Quarry Road Recreation Area to lower parking lot.

This area contains a viewing area, blind and 14-acre native prairie field. Public swimming beach, restrooms, picnic shelter, picnic sites, playground and two accessible fishing piers are available.

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, red fox, red tailed hawk, black vulture, great horned owl, great blue heron, eastern bluebird, common flicker, woodpecker, goldfinch, red-winged blackbird, indigo bunting, whip-poor-will, bobwhite, nuthatch, blue jay, cardinal and many songbirds.
F3 - Brigadoon State Nature Preserve

Right on KY 252 (11 miles) turn right on US 31E (3 miles) turn right on Browning School Road (1 mile) left on Raymond Mutter Road, go to end.

181 acres protect a mature western mesophytic forest. Hiking, bird watching, other passive recreation activities.

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities:
red tailed hawk, turkey and black vulture, screech owl, great blue heron, eastern bluebird, common flicker, woodpecker, goldfinch, red winged blackbird, indigo bunting, whi-poor-will, bobwhite, nuthatch, cardinal and migratory birds.
F4 - Barren River Lake State Resort Park

From Green River S.P. take Hwy. 55 south toward KY 565 (15 miles). Take Cumberland Parkway West (26 miles). Take Exit #11 and turn left onto US 31E S. Go about 11.5 miles to park entrance. *Lodging, dining, and gas opportunities in nearby Glasgow, Ky.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park is a water-lover's paradise surrounded by forested, rolling hills. The resort is located near Kentucky's famous cave area, which includes Mammoth Cave National Park, the longest cave system in the world!

Habitat and trail info: The resort has four miles of woodland trails for nature study. 2,100 acres of hardwood forest. Situated on 10,000 acre Barren River Reservoir.

Home to white-tailed deer, eaastern cottontail rabbit, gray squirrel, red fox, raccoon, striped skunk, groundhog, oppossum, Canada geese, bald eagle, gulls, common water snake, black racer, eastern bluebird and other songbirds (migratory).
