Columbus, KY Columbus-Belmont State Park is 15 miles south at KY-58 & KY-123/80. This is the site of a massive chain and anchor used to block the passage of Union gunboats during the Civil War. There is also a Confederate cannon and a network of earthen trenches. Museum is open daily May - Labor Day and weekends in after Labor Day - mid October ($4/adult, $3 children - $2 groups and seniors; open by appointment during off-season), mini-golf, hiking, year-round camping, (270)677-2327, museum is handicapped accessible.  A self-guided walking tour is featured, and can be obtained at the park visitor's center.
The weekend will include battle reenactments, living history, and encampments. Friday is "education day".  Schools, scouts, groups, & clubs are encouraged to schedule field trips.  Battles will be held at 2:00 both Sat. and Sun.  There will be a Ghost Walk on Friday evening and a Civil War Ball on Saturday night. Sunday morning services and a Memorial Service at Columbus Cemetery.   Sutlers and food vendors will be on site to serve the needs of the reenactors and visiting guests.  Special entertainment daily.  For more information, call Cindy Lynch (270) 677-2327.
