Highway 68 forms Main Street for the Greensburg National Register Historic District. The district is anchored by the oldest courthouse west of the Alleghenies (1804). Incorporated in 1794, Greensburg, the county seat of Green County, began as Glover's Station, a wilderness settlement on the Cumberland Trace, an offshoot of the Wilderness Trail.

The city and county boast many Lincoln and Civil War connections. Green River recreational activities and genealogical research draw many to the area. Float trips are available by calling
(270) 032-9658.

Unique restaurants (Chinese, real Southern and old fashioned soda fountain) and shopping (primitives, antiques, arts & crafts and hardware) are found in the downtown area.

Lodging is available at the new Green River Paddle Trail Park.
