Knott County is located in Eastern Kentucky. The County Seat, Hindman, is roughly a three to four hour drive from Cincinatti, Ohio: Charleston, West Virginia; or Knoxville, Tennessee. The county is easily accessed via KY 80, which connects to the Hal Rogers Parkway at Hazard and US 23 near Prestonsburg. There is very little commercial development within the county, most of which is centralized within a few miles of the county seat.
Knott County is located in the Kanawha section of the Appalachian Plateau physiographic province. The Kanawha section of the province is a highly dissected plateau characterized by narrow, crooked valleys and narrow, irregular steep-sided ridges. This makes Knott County ideal terrain for horseback riding, ATV and hiking.
Although major streams have flood plains of moderate width, most streams are confined to very narrow valley floors. Focus will be placed to keep most of the trails traveling along ridge tops where possible rather than in the valleys.
Knott Center is strategically located:
In the center of the 12-county Kentucky Mountain Trails Development Coalition
Between two major ATV dealerships in Prestonburg and Hazard.
There are NO ATV Training Centers in Kentucky.
