Opened its doors for business in August of 1958 and still remains a favorite spot for a great meal! When the drive-in business first began, car hops would go out and get orders from the customers and then deliver the food to the cars. Later speakers were added which allowed the customers to transmit their orders directly. The car hops were then responsible for delivering the mouth-watering food. When the business began, it was a rather isolated location to provide area youth with a place to go. Over the years the community has grown so that Gene's Freeze is on the busiest, most business populated street in Edmonton.
