Campbellsville and Taylor County are located in the heart of Central Kentucky, nestled between the Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachian Mountains and offering the best of both regions. Taylor County was founded in 1848. The area is home to a pleasant mix of agriculture, manufacturing and recreation. One of the area's greatest recreational attractions is Green River Lake, which offers some of the finest fishing and boating in the state. The Civil War Battle of Tebbs Bend was fought here in 1863 and several local historic sites reflect that time period.
Among the county's more unusual industries are the manufacture of church steeples and handmade cherry furniture. Its principal farm products include tobacco, corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. Campbellsville is host to one of the biggest 4th of July celebrations in the state. More than 25,000 people turn out for fireworks, country music concerts, and more. Historic downtown Campbellsville offers 190 businesses and services.
