In 1925, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad built one of the most beautiful passenger depots on its line here in Bowling Green. Classic Revival in style, the interior was decorated with a hand laid nexagonal tile floor wainscoting, with the exterior made from local limestone, all of which remain today.
The interactive museum is self-guided and includes a model railroad exhibit by the sHOw Club, a theater showing vintage railroad films, and exhibits featuring the historical and cultural aspects of passenger service. Included in the museum tour is a guided walk through the collection of vintage passenger cars.
Comprised of a presidential office car built in 1911, a 1949 Pullman Standard dining car, a 1953 Luxury Pullman sleeper and a Chessie Class caboose, E8 engine, and the L & N 1107 (a RPO car from the 1920s).
Railcars are open for tours during museum hours: Tuesday - Saturday 9 am - 5 pm; Sunday 1 - 4 pm. Closed on Mondays. May - October: Open on Mondays also from 9 am - 5 pm.
