BREATHITT COUNTY INVENTORY AND ACTION PLAN FOR ADVENTURE TOURISM INITIATIVE
DEVELOPING ADDITIONAL BLUEWAYS
In further conversations with community leaders, it was determined that additional waterways had potential for becoming a part of the blueways other than those researched by Summit Engineering. On August 20th, Dr. Steve Spencer, a consultant with expertise in developing blueways spent the day and toured the county with Steve Thomas, a local resident knowledgeable of the area. The two GPS mapped access points for additional fishing/canoe trails on both Troublesome Creek and Quicksand Creek and additional access points on the North Fork of the Kentucky River. A larger map and detailed GPS coordinates are provided in APPENDIX B.
A detailed plan was developed and copies sent to Summit Engineering and key people in the community adding two additional blueways to the inventory. Their findings and recommendations are included in APPENDIX B of this Action Plan.
