The present Green County courthouse is the third courthouse to serve this area. It was constructed in 1930-31; it is a two-story brick structure of Beaux-Arts design. Little information is known about this building because the second courthouse built for Green County is still standing and is the oldest standing courthouse in Kentucky. Construction on the second courthouse began in 1802. Waller Bullock of Lexington was awarded the contracted for the building and Robert Ball was in charge of the stonework. In 1870 a small bell tower was added to top the structure. The building served as the courthouse until 1931 when the new one was constructed, it was then used as the county library until 1966.
