The present Gallatin County courthouse is the third to serve the county.
It was built in 1838 shortly after the county seat was moved to Warsaw. Originally, the two-story Greek Revival building fronted the river, but after the renovations from 1938-40 a portico was added that reoriented the building away from the Ohio River and towards US 42.
