The present Breckinridge County courthouse is the fourth courthouse and was built in 1958. The previous courthouse was destroyed by fire in February 1957. The current building was to be one of the nicest in Kentucky, as stated by architect Walter Scott Roberts of Owensboro. Some of the special features of this building are; two vaults that are fireproof and both are two stories tall, also the whole building is said to be completely fireproof.
