The fourth and present Bell County courthouse was completed in 1920. It was built to replace the previous building, which like its predecessor was destroyed by fire.

Designed by John W. Gaddis, from Indiana, it is a three-story building with a Beaux- Arts design. Again fire occurred at the courthouse in 1944 which gutted the inside of the building renovation work was immediately started.
