Anderson County – The second and present Anderson county courthouse was constructed in the early 1860’s.
It was designed by Dennis Haly of Frankfort and his brother was awarded the contract for construction. In 1905 remodeling took place, which included moving the front wall forward, and reducing the size of the cupola.

On April 13, 1915 fire almost completely destroyed the courthouse, only the outside walls survived. Plans were accepted from the architectural firm of Joseph and Joseph to rebuild the courthouse using the original walls. The new courthouse has a Beaux-Arts design.
The contractor for the project was A.J. Stair of Knoxville, Tennessee.
The entire cost of the project was $39,146.
