TRAIL RIDE - October 6-8, 2006 - RIDE-A-THON
On October 6-8, 2006 a Ride-A-Thon was planned and was located on the Sutton property at the head of John S. Combs Branch on top of Conley Branch Mountain. This is where construction on the new training facility has just begun. Hundreds of riders and campers showed up and a wonderful time was had by all.
Governor Ernie Fletcher and other state officials visited the site and presented Judge Executive Randy Thompson with a check for $50,000 from recreational trails grant. These grant dollars will be used to construct nearly 17 miles of new trails to link with existing trails.
In addition to the trails grant, Knott County will receive grant dollars for infrastructure projects, including the Carr Creek Water Treatment Plant, Jamestown Village and Highway 80 Water line project as well as the Hall Branch and Perkins Madden Roads Water Line Extension Projects.
