Construction on the fourth and present Woodford County courthouse was completed in 1970. The new building was necessary due to a fire destroying the previous one in 1965. The Gault Brothers Construction Company of Lexington was awarded the contract for construction and began work in 1968.

The building has a modern Georgian design, and is a three-story, brick structure with a two-story portico. The total cost of the Woodford County courthouse was $1,100,000.
