The fourth and present Powell County courthouse was completed in 1978. The Lexington architectural firm of Chrisman, Miller, and Wallace designed the new courthouse. The building is a one-story, brick building of modern design. The structure also processes elements of older courthouses such as the clock tower and fountain.
