The second and current Pendleton County courthouse was completed in 1848. It appears that the original structure was of Greek Revival design. In 1884, remodeling took place, which included an addition and other details to bring the structure up to Victorian standards. In 1975 the building under went another renovation, which included sandblasting the exterior to bring the structure back to its original color.
