The fifth Fayette County courthouse was completed in 1900. The design for the courthouse came from Lehman & Schmitt.

The contract for construction was awarded to Albert Howard and George Clarke of Lexington. According to the design the building has a Romanesque Revival style. In the 1950’s and 60’s the courthouse went through several renovations, which destroyed much of the interior. A new Fayette County courthouse has been constructed in the last year and is another architectural treat for the people of Fayette County.
